About us
Imbue's mission is to make "open" AI agents win over closed agents. To do that, we’re starting with making open coding agents, since they both make it easier to construct future agents, and we can use them ourselves.
Our flagship product, Sculptor, gives engineers the power to run and coordinate multiple coding agents in parallel, helping them move faster and stay in flow. At its core, Sculptor is about giving developers power to make software creation easier, faster, and more reliable. We intend to make the source code available to both serve as an example of how to create open agents, and provide a tool that makes it easier for others to create open software. The insights we gain from building Sculptor help us both understand the interaction design and infrastructure necessary for creating open agents, and improve the capabilities of the underlying models.
Ultimately, we aim to rekindle the dream of the *personal* computer, where computers become truly intelligent tools that empower us, giving us freedom, dignity, and agency to pursue the things we love.
Summary
This role is about using deep knowledge about infrastructure, systems, and networking to make "yes" happen. You'll get into the nitty-gritty of Docker, containers, CI, and other tooling to optimize and debug our systems end-to-end. Your job is to fix things, and then deeply understand how things work so they don't have to be fixed again :). We value adopting best-in-class LLM tooling and figuring out how to build on top of it, both internally and for our users. You'll build automations for internal productivity improvements, and scale the instinct of automation to the entire team.
What you'll do
Design, deploy, and maintain container services (ex: Docker, DevContainer) in the Sculptor application
Streamline packaging and continuous deployment workflows for Sculptor and Sculptor dependencies (including Docker layers)
Optimize CI/CD pipelines and internal test suites
Drive productionalization, including monitoring, events, logs, and tracing
Improve workflows for observing and debugging production issues
Manage cloud infrastructure for hosting Sculptor-related services
Implement and maintain security, privacy, and compliance
You are
A good software engineer. We are strong adherents of "infrastructure as code", so you will be writing (and reading) lots of Python, bash, etc.
Passionate about enabling other engineers and creating good tooling for developers to interact with infrastructure in an automated way.
Experienced enough with dev ops to be properly opinionated. You should understand the trade-offs of various approaches and technologies, and not be dogmatically tied to a single tool.
Careful and detail oriented. We do science and care deeply about the correctness of the results. Our infrastructure reflects this--we highly value robustness and ensuring that systems run reliably and correctly.
Compensation and Benefits
• Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits
• Lunch provided daily to onsite employees
• $250 lifestyle stipend per month
• Generous budget for self-improvement: coaching, courses, conferences, etc
• Actively co-create and participate in a positive, intentional team culture
• Frequent team events, dinners, off-sites, and hanging out
Compensation packages are highly variable based on a variety of factors. If your salary requirements fall outside of the stated range, we still encourage you to apply. The cash range for this role is $170,000–$350,000.
How to apply
All submissions are reviewed by a person, so we encourage you to include notes on why you're interested in working with us. If you have any other work that you can showcase (open source code, side projects, etc.), certainly include it! We know that talent comes from many backgrounds, and we aim to build a team with diverse skillsets that spike strongly in different areas.
We try to reply either way within a week or two at most (usually much sooner).
